Nature your office
What? If you think about human movement, you might think about sports or the newest Tesla car. But I also think about how people move around the city with their working space. So this semester we are discussing the theme sustainable cities. And I found something really interesting in a magazine( flow, March 2016) that has to do with both, human movement and sustainable cities. The coolhunt I write this blog about is called `kantoorcaravan` in English: officecaravan. Maybe you can already imagine what it is only by reading the name but I will explain it a little more. Tom the starter of this project, made a self-supporting caravan . this means It makes his own energy. This caravan stands in the middle of a beautiful nature spot somewhere in The Netherlands. It has free Wi-Fi, coffee and you can charge your laptop and phone. There is also a toilet and water available. Tom has now only 3 of these caravans and he and some of his friends work in the caravans. But he is now really busy with a crowdfunding project. To make this available for more companies of alone workers who want to work in an inspiring surrounding.
Why? I think you can not only link this coolhunt to the theme sustainable cities but I can also see the trends experience economy and authenticity coming back in this idea. This because working will get an whole other experience. You will sit there in your caravan in the middle of a forest working on a project with a really inspiring surrounding. It really shows the trend authenticity, this because you totally go back no basic. You can escape the big city and have a quiet day working. People have this need, to escape the big and busy world. What you also see is that this idea fits in the trend out of context. People are tired of working on a desk from nine to five. They want something different. Oxford studies proves that the standard working day will also be disastrous for people’s health. It has to with people how wake up to early, it won’t be good for your health. It actually makes you ill. But with a working space in one of these caravans you can decide your own time to start your day. So to me this idea is really cool because it matches many trends and it will be better for the quality of life for people who work for example 5 days a week on the same desk from nine to five. This surrounding also helps against stress and many other problems like diabetes or heart an vascular disease. So working in one of these caravans is not only an advantage for the worker self, but also the company he or she works for. Because these employees will be healthier and happier to work for the company who give them the chance to work in a green surrounding. Self-discipline is also easier in a green environment and this is a big advantage when you have to work. So by reading all this I hope you will also think about working in a more greener surrounding!
